Writing - 3/5 stars // Characters - 4/5 stars // Plot - 3/5 stars // Intensity - 3/5 // Engagement - 5/5 stars // Overall - 3.5/5 stars

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi is pretty good, but there were a few things that disappointed me when I was reading this book. I saw a lot of hype for this book before reading so I expected it to be better than it was, however it was enjoyable. Also I would just like to mention that I am in love with the cover of this book! It is one of those book covers that is just so fun to look at!

Writing

The writing in this book was good, but I have definitely seen better. I thought the way Juliette's thoughts were written and the idea that she was consistently counting things, such as time, was very intriguing. However, in my opinion it didn't add that much to the book.

Characters

I thought that the characters in this story were quite interesting. I quickly fell in love with the 3 main characters. Warner developed beautifully as a character and in Destroy Me, the novella between book one and two. His character was really brought to life. As for the other characters in book one I didn't feel like the character development was very strong. It felt like the characters didn't have much depth. Eventually the characters became extremely predictable. It's very similar to other YA novels. I could guess what happens next based on all the YA I have read before this book and I was usually right, so that took a bit of the fun away. However, this book was still very enjoyable, just fairly predictable. I did like the characters, I just thought they could have had more depth than they did.

Plot

I felt like my thoughts about the plot were similar to my thoughts about the characters. I liked the plot and I thought it was enjoyable, but again, it was predictable. I knew what was happening long before it happened. Even though the book was predictable it was still a great read.

Intensity

The intensity in this book isn't anything too crazy. For me it was more of a light read although, there were parts that might be a little more intense. If you're looking for a book that is not too intense but still has a little bit of intensity, this book is for you!

Engagement

I thought this book was very engaging! It was fun, exciting and even thrilling. It caught your interest right from the start.

Overall

Overall I really liked this book! The writing was good, the characters were likable, however they didn't have much depth. The plot was enjoyable but predictable and it was very engaging. I recommend this book for people looking for a quick and fun read. I think that you will find this book captivating and intriguing. I hope you enjoy this book! Let me know what you think about the novel as well! I'm very interested in your opinions.
